Saint Dominic used the mysteries of the Rosary as a way to Evangelize. These mysteries are like a highlight film of the life of Our Lord Jesus Christ and the Blessed Virgin Mary. Through the Life of Christ course we can grow more in love and knowledge of Jesus Christ by meditating on the Gospel (Good News).
1. Pray a decade of the Scriptural Rosary, which is provided for each lesson. This includes one Our Father and 10 Hail Marys. Prior to each Hail Mary recite the indicated lines from Sacred Scritpure. This short prayer will help keep a focus on the Gospel for the lesson. You can print enough Scriptural Rosary sheets that individuals in the group can take the Scriptural Rosary sheet with them and continue to pray one decade each day of the week. The individuals may also share personal intentions and write them on the sheet so that they can remember each other in prayer.
2. Use the Quick Connect Lectio Divina Guide provided for each lesson. Spend 10-15 minutes reading only the Gospel and answer at least the first 3 sections on page 4. Break into small groups and share the fruits of Lectio Divina. Many times the section on meditation will include questions about the Gospel rather than meditations or insights, this will depend on the group and their familiarity with the Gospel.
3. Short Lesson and Discussion - Use the Msgr. Hart homily, and Quick Connect guide for preparation. Have a lesson ready that can pull different moral and doctrinal teachings from the given Gospel.
It is recommended that those using The Life of Christ Course as a self study, watch a set of lessons (there are 4 sets below) and then schedule a 2 hour meeting to discuss lessons. A practicing Catholic should be able to assist you in your studies. Please contact your local Catholic Church. It is helpful to keep a journal for the course to write down main points, questions and reflections.
